Mahendru PC Secures $2.3M Judgment for Houston-Area Medical Practice

Mahendru PC recently obtained a nearly $2.3 million summary judgment from a Montgomery County district court on behalf of a large medical group practice, Genesis Medical Group, in the North Houston area. The judgment is in addition to a separate $3.3 million arbitration award that Mahendru PC secured for the same client, against several of the same parties, less than one year ago.

In the Montgomery County case, Genesis argued that it owned the rights to a nearly $2.3 million bonus distribution from Affordable Care Coalition of Southeast Texas, an affordable care organization established under Medicare rules. Northwest Diagnostic Clinic, which had sold substantially all its assets to Genesis in 2018, had argued that it owned the bonus distribution. The trial court agreed with Genesis and issued summary judgment in its favor.

The case is David P. Ellent, P.L.L.C., d/b/a Genesis Medical Group v. Accountable Care Coalition of Southeast Texas, Inc., WDC Holdco, P.A. (f/k/a Northwest Diagnostic Clinic, P.A.), Woodlands Diagnostic Clinic P.A., Cause No. 21-12-17312 before The District Court of Montgomery County, Texas, 284th Judicial District.
